Science Lab: Evaporation

 Does salt water evaporate at the same rate as pure water?

  Students in Teacher Nicholas’s M1 and M2 Science classes explored how to test a scientific hypothesis by comparing the evaporation rates of pure water and salt water. Students set up both samples and used a timer to record how long it took for the water to evaporate. They compared their observations and investigated why the two liquids appeared to evaporate at different rates. Through this hands-on investigation, students practiced forming and testing hypotheses, controlling variables, collecting data, and using evidence to explain their results.
